HB3 provides students with a free SAT in March

Juniors preparing to take the SAT in March won’t have to worry paying as the House Bill 3 funds will cover it. Instead of waking up on a Saturday morning, the SAT will be offered for all juniors to take on March 4 at all high schools throughout the district.

Frisco ISD juniors are going to have the chance to take the SAT for free in March as a result of House Bill 3.

Approved by the 86th Legislature, HB3 provides funds to support college readiness and will reimburse the district for the costs of the SAT.

For junior Remi Williams, this takes the stress off getting ready for college.

“I love that idea for multiple reasons,” Williams said via text. “One being that some people may not be able to afford it and two because it gives every student exposure. Also because it’s at school then everyone will have time to take it.”

While it does relieve stress, junior Elizabeth Boss views it as a practice run.

“I think that’s nice that I won’t have to pay for one,” Boss said via text. “I’d say it does help with prep since it can be more of an ‘experience’ of the SAT as it’s already paid for by the school. That way you know what to study for the next one SAT to help get a better score.”
