The CTE center is hosting a blood drive on Thursday and Friday from 8:15 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. with recent victims of the Garland tornado potentially benefitting from donations.

“I hope this drive certainly helps blood banks and helps them fill their needs and with certain accidents and that that we have in our area,” school nurse Emily Mikeska said. “Especially with the tornado victims and things like that. There is certainly probably is a need for people who’ve had injuries.”

Carter Blood Care will run the drive with students 16 and up eligible to donate with a signed permission form from a parent or guardian.

“Donating certainly helps others and it gets you prepared to hopefully make this something you can do in the future,” Mikeska said. “Sometimes just getting it done the first time makes it easier for those second and third times.”
