Review: A unique twist on the arts
January 6, 2016
Walking intro Painting With a Twist, one immediately sees an array of all the artwork on the wall like an art museum filled with canvases side by side. Greeted with a smile and immediately asked by employees what they can do to help, customers instantly feel welcomed.
From there, customers pick out the painting they would like to replicate, but may be overwhelmed with all of the colors, themes, and possible ways they can make that painting have its own twist. Next, an employee kindly gestures them to a seat at a large table in a group with others where an easel and canvas await.
By every easel there are paper towels and all the paintbrushes they will need to paint their masterpiece. Instead of having the necessary paint colors for the original painting set up next to their supplies, Painting With a Twist wants their customers to embrace their creativity and style. So, they let them pick out the colors they wish to use in their painting.
When the class starts on the painting, they get an in-depth instruction of how to do the painting. The instructor is standing on a raised platform at the front of the class and begins to teach them how to do the first detail, what brush to use, and how to add their own flair to it if they want. Once everyone is done, they move on to the next part.
As people are painting, the instructor usually walks around the room to give helpful tips and ideas. Now you might think when someone paints they are supposed to be focused and quiet but not here. At Painting With a Twist, everyone can talk, share as many laughs, and as many memories as they want.
At the end of the session, the finishing touch to the painting is adding their signature touch; their name. Then everyone can go up to the podium and take pictures of their masterpiece.
Painting With a Twist is fun, energetic and a great family friendly place. Although, they do have nights just for adults, most of the time it is family oriented with birthday parties also an option in which the birthday boy/girl gets to pick the painting. Although the experience is fun, the prices can be more expensive than other studio’s depending on the class, how long it is, and what picture you are painting.
On its website it says “Looks like art, feels like fun!” and Painting With a Twist definitely lives up to it.
