Hoops season heating up
December 4, 2019
The girls’ basketball team opened up District 9-5A play on Tuesday night against Lebanon Trail and came away with a 36-31 win over the Trailblazers.
“I think we performed well and the game had really good energy,” sophomore Jazzy Owens said. “Even though we won we need to continue to work to improve our game.”
The boys’ team doesn’t start district play until next week but they continue with tournament play, in the Mansfield Spring Creek Barbecue Classic Tournament Thursday through Saturday.
For their first game, the Redhawks will take on the Mansfield Tigers at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mansfield.
“We’ve had over a week to get prepared,” head coach Stephen Friar said. “But honestly it’s more about us than them. I expect us to play hard and leave everything out on the floor.”
