A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Whatever it’s like outside, the recently released A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood will warm your heart.
Directed by Marielle Heller, and starring Tom Hanks, this movie brings a true story to life about an investigative journalist who ends up being forced to write a nice story on the hero, Mr. Rogers.
The journalist, Lloyd Vogal, a husband and father, has lived a troubled and traumatic life that has led him to the place where he is now. A workaholic, who struggles to be a good husband, and to be a good father for his newborn. He is known for his negative opinion writing, and usually gets rejected by the people he asks to write about because of his bad reputation.
When he is asked to write a positive story on the famous TV figure and hero, Mr. Rogers, he complains, knowing this isn’t his area of expertise. Unwillingly, he takes the case and rolls with it, hoping to interview Rogers and be done.
When he meets Mr. Rogers for the first time, he is perplexed by his complexity, and how he isn’t just a surface level child inspiration. He realizes that one interview won’t be enough to truly understand the meaning of his work.
While I don’t want to spoil the rest of the story, I do want to say that the storyline of this movie is one of the best that I have seen in a very long time. It was emotionally tugging and really made you feel for the main character, Lloyd.
You don’t want to miss this highly acclaimed movie, with some phenomenal actors, in theaters, as it will bring you back to your childhood, and your enjoyment of the beloved, Mr. Rogers.
