Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
January 22, 2020
Bringing in 1.029 billion dollars, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker brought more than just a plethora of emotions.
This movie was released on December 20th, 2019, bringing an end to the last movie of the most recent saga: The first being The Force Awakens, followed with The Last Jedi.
According to the movie critics, this film wasn’t as successful as the box office numbers show. IMDb had the highest rating with a 6.9 out of 10, Metacritic rated it with a 54%, and Rotten Tomatoes had the lowest rating with 52%.
However, when it comes to the public I have heard all ends of the spectrum of how great or how horrible this movie is. Many people have said it was too safe and that they didn’t choose to do anything exciting, while others have claimed that it was the perfect ending to a saga so beloved.
In my personal opinion, I liked it. A simple sentence that’s hard to explain, because there are parts that made the movie great, and some parts that made it rough. I do have to agree that it was a safe movie, that didn’t make surprise you in any dramatic way like many Star Wars movies have before, however it was entertaining and answered most of my questions.
Overall, it was a good movie, but I wish they would have chosen to add a little more risk. However, with this being a Disney movie, I know the producers had a larger say than even the directors and writers who had different ideas than what was actually shown on screen.
