Vertical art show reception Tuesday at FISD Administration Building

Students on campus, and the school’s various feeder schools, have their artwork on display at the Vertical Art Show, an annual event at the FISD administration building with a reception taking place Tuesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
“The Vertical Art Show, we’ve been doing it for a couple years, all the schools in Frisco do it, and part of it is that we’re able to see artwork from elementary, middle, and high school,” art teacher Fred Rodriguez said. “So it’s all displayed in one place. The cool part is that all the schools that line up with us are schools that will have students coming to Liberty. It’s cool to kinda see kids from elementary and see the artwork they’ll be doing in high school.”
Each art teacher selects students in the effort to showcase a variety of work being done.
“Typically it’s about 15-20 kids per teacher so about 10-15 from me, and other teachers so we all pick students and then display it,” Rodriguez said. “We just send artwork that showcases different projects that I enjoy doing and the students enjoy doing. I like picking a variety so that other students can see those.”
One of the students chosen to have their work displayed is junior Megan Gi.
“I’m really excited for a lot of people to see it,” Gi said. “I worked really hard on water coloring and making certain patterns on the side of my hair on the self portrait and I had a hard time blending a bunch of colors together so finally getting it was very satisfying for me.”
