Sweet, smokey, smelling barbecue lingers in the air when on walks into the cozy, welcoming, and rustic, environment of the Local Yocal, located just east of Historic Downtown McKinney. Starting off as a small butcher shop, the Local Yocal is now an exquisite barbecue restaurant that still uses the same source for its meat.

The comforting atmosphere, and scrumptious food make the restaurant amazing and with meat the focus, diners can’t go wrong with whatever is ordered.

On the burger side, The Hamilton features  ⅓ Ib of house-ground wagyu beef, brisket, jalapeno cheddar sausage, bacon, cheddar cheese, grilled onions, mayo, and jalapenos. The burger will leave you wanting more with each bite, but will leave you unable to do so due to the sheer mass of it. The balance of sweet and spicy is perfect because the sweetness from the bun, and mayo, pairs perfectly with the spice from the jalapenos.

The Smoked Chicken Fried Steak is another amazing dish. It features buttermilk marinated, and hand battered wagyu sirloin, with peppered cream gravy. The tender meat works ideally with the sweeter breading, and warm gravy.

Another item worth mentioning on the Local Yocal menu, is the Ranch-House Chopped Salad. It contains chopped turkey breast, romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, blue cheese, avocado, farm eggs, and buttermilk dressing. The salad is a great dose of freshness, before, or after, the heartyness of the meat. It’s light, and simple, with a bit of sweetness.

The Local Yocal features amazing food, and fantastic service and is perfect for a casual, after church lunch, or a nice dinner.
