First AP test better than expected
May 14, 2020
Since stay at home orders have prevented us from going back to school, students began taking their AP tests at home on Monday. For freshmen taking AP Human Geography, that meant the first AP test of their high school career was Tuesday..
We were told all year to expect 60 minutes for 60 multiple choice questions and 75 minutes for three free response questions. Both sections were weighted 50 percent. The unexpected happened, however, and we were now under stay at home orders to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The AP test changed to just two free response questions, 25 minutes for the first one and 15 minutes for the second one.
It was a lot better than I expected it to be. There were definitely some questions that I had to look back on my notes for, but it wasn’t as stressful as the original test would have been. AP Human Geography is not an easy subject and the multiple choice questions can be extremely difficult, so I am happy that I didn’t have to do any multiple choice questions.
The time limit was a little bit stressful especially since you only have a few minutes for each question and some are harder than others, but it wasn’t as bad as I think some people anticipated.
The most stressful part was probably stressing over whether or not my computer was going to crash mid-test. I think that the preparation for the test made it seem like it was going to be a lot harder than it was. We had to do ten to fifteen page packets a week plus a free response question as practice for the test and the prep alone was a lot harder than the test.
