The Redhawks tennis team took on the Independence High School Knights Tuesday at home in a District 9-5A match coming out with a 14-5 loss.
Tennis coach Erica Dopson feels the match was about average considering that Independence has one of the top 5A teams in the state.
“The match went ok,” Dopson said via email. “We had some great wins and some tough losses. We need to work on closing points in doubles.”
Even though the final score of the night was a loss, sophomore Sanjheev Rao believes his team still played well, winning most of the important points.
“Our team won the close matches and played without any fear of losing,” Rao said via text. “There was a lot of confidence among the players as we had nothing to lose. All the matches our team won was in the third set tiebreak. We won the important points to close out many of the matches.”
