The football team battles their toughest opponent thus far as they fight for first place in District 7-5A against the undefeated Frisco Racoons, Friday night at Toyota Stadium. The Raccoons enter the game with a 2-0 district record, while the Redhawks are 3-0.

They are a great team, but so are we,” head coach Matt Swinnea said. “This will be a game of who executes the best and makes the fewest mistakes.”

Even though this game could impact their playoff run, Swinnea isn’t worried about it.

“I don’t think there is, or at least don’t think there should be, any additional pressure,” Swinnea said.  “While it is true that this has big implications for the district championship, there is a long way to go before the playoff picture gets resolved.  We have half the season still in front of us and we just need to focus on controlling how we perform each week.”

For junior Sam Wennas, starting strong is key.

“I’m honestly really excited for this game,” Wennas said. “I really think that if we come out strong right away, then we will be able to get ahead early. This is going to be a good game.”
