945 area code added to North Texas
Area codes 214, 817, 972, and 469 have been joined by 945 as the Public Utility Commission of Texas approved the new code to meet the growing demands of the region. The area code was launched on Jan. 15 and applauded by Gov. Greg Abbott.

North Texas residents are starting to see a new area code pop up on their screen as 945 has been added to join 214, 817, 972, and 469. The Public Utility Commission of Texas approved the new area code to meet the growing demands of the region.
The new area code was launched on Jan. 15 and was applauded by Gov. Greg Abbott.
“The growth of the population in Dallas and surrounding cities is a reflection of the continued economic vitality in the region and across the state,” Abbott said in a news release. “When the availability of jobs intersects with the quality of life in Texas, this kind of growth is to be expected. I applaud the PUC for taking this prudent step.”
