A night that many freshmen look forward to the moment they step into high school is prom. Due to COVID-19, prom was canceled in 2020, and many students thought this year’s situation would be the same. However, the school recently announced that Senior Prom will be held April 20 at the W Hotel in Dallas.

“I’m excited about prom this year especially because it’s my last year of high school and I won’t be able to have this experience ever again,” senior Naomi Kurian said. “I believe that as long as people abide by the COVID-19 regulations during the dance we should be able to have a safe and fun prom!”

Though most students are enthusiastic about the fact that prom is happening, some of them still have concerns regarding this year’s situation.

“While I’m a little disappointed at the fact that this year’s prom, like so many other events in the past year, won’t live up to my expectations, I feel grateful that the school and student council are working hard to ensure that we still have some sort of event that adheres very strictly to safety guidelines,” senior Nandika Chirala said. “I’m hoping to just make the best of the situation, and still participate in some of the normal aspects of prom, to make for a fun and memorable, but safe night!”

Although it may not be what many seniors had hoped, students such as Trinity Ramirez are thankful prom is an option in 2021.

“I think it’s really great that the administration is doing their best to provide the senior class with a great prom while still accommodating for COVID-19 guidelines,” senior Trinity Ramirez said. “Because of COVID-19, so much of our senior year has had to change or gotten cancelled so it’s great that we get some version of something so many people have been looking forward to for so long.”
