More than a dozen track and field athletes are making their way to the UIL 5A Region II meet Friday and Saturday starting at 8 a.m. in the Maverick Stadium

“We definitely want to go to state and we have very high expectations for one another,” junior Cori Ross she said. “Even for me as an individual, I’m sitting second right now [in high jump], and I have expectations for myself. We haven’t been this far and we want to keep going and we don’t settle, especially for relay teams.”

Nearing the end of the season, junior Sydney Bishop believes her teammates give her the motivation to keep persisting.

“All of my teammates are so talented,” Bishop said. “Our main focus on the relay has and always will be giving one-hundred percent. We are all really good friends and have fun in practice, which helps us to build each other up.”
