This is my final blog entry for the 2020-2021 school year, so let’s end with a list of my favorite albums of these first few months in 2021. These albums have helped me push through the rest of this year and finish strong.

At number one is Sueños de Dalí by Paloma Mami. This album is probably one of my favorites of all time. I love Paloma’s voice and all of the tracks on this album. Some of my favorite tracks include “For Ya,” “ Traumada,” and “RDMDA.” I think that the vibes from this album really pushed me to enjoy the small moments of freedom that I had in between final projects and AP tests. It’s definitely made me feel empowered as well.

Up next is KG0516 by Karol G. This album genuinely made me smile so much when it came out. It makes me feel very proud and connected to my country of Colombia through the language and vocabulary that Karol uses on these tracks. My favorites from this album are “EL BARCO,” “DVD,” and “200 COPAS.” I love Karol’s delivery of the messages that she sends of love and female empowerment.

Last but not least is Madison Beer’s Life Support. This album is very special to me because of Beer’s lyrics. She opens herself up to her listeners and she becomes vulnerable through her tone. Some of her songs are very personal to me and so here are my favorites: “Effortlessly,” “Blue,” and “Sour Times.” Through these songs she made me feel so many emotions ranging from happiness to sadness to powerful.

These are my favorites so far this year and I am anxious to see what is to come the rest of this year out of the music industry. As I have said before, music is the universal language we can all understand and it is the reason why so many of us feel like we can keep going. So I wish you all a very happy summer and may you enjoy some freedom!
