Wingspan is back again, with the top five sports highlights of the 2020-2021 year.

Coming in at #1, the boys’ track team wins the first UIL state title in school history for boys’ athletics and the first boys’ track title in Frisco ISD history.

“Anytime you win a state championship in anything in the state of Texas, it is enormous,”campus  athletic coordinator Matt Swinnea said. “The fact that this happened in track, capping off a year that had so much uncertainty with short seasons, this culminates in a great year for us.”

Led by junior Evan Stewart, the team’s accomplishment is a sign of what Frisco ISD athletics can do according to head coach Chip Gregory.

“Probably one of the most surreal things is having someone tell you that you are the state champion and you don’t believe it at first,” Gregory said. “I think, if anything, it speaks to what FISD and athletics have done over the years and truly given the kids opportunity to be successful and I think it shows.”
