Many movie theaters are beginning to follow IPIC’s footsteps in showing old films.

Due to COVID-19, production companies delayed their upcoming movies, with some releasing straight to streaming, while others have been delayed for over a year now. In order to fill the gaps left by the lack of releases, movie theaters began playing older films in an attempt to attract customers. These films included famous classics and powerful award winners, but one theater company has been playing classic films long before the pandemic began.

IPIC Theaters plays a new classic movie weekly, giving people the chance to see their favorite films on the big screen once again, capturing an experience that just can’t be replicated at home. For younger audiences, the classic film program gives them the chance to see movies that were released when they were too young to remember or weren’t even born yet to see.

Both of these were the case for myself as I had the chance to see The Wizard of Oz and The Dark Knight in theaters for the first time. As for The Wizard of Oz, the impeccable sound in the theaters brought a new level of emotion to the film’s incredible songs and score. And for The Dark Knight, the big screen and sound of the theaters was needed to fully appreciate the scale and importance of Batman’s epic struggle to take down the Joker.

Be sure to check out IPIC’s upcoming releases to see which one of your favorite films might be playing next.
