On Saturday, cast members of theater’s fall musical “Bright Star” will be meeting together for a team building event in order to strengthen bonds before working on the script. In the eyes of theater teacher Heather Willingham, this will ensure everyone is able to make connections before rehearsal.

The theatre department is having a company bonding day on Saturday to officially kick-off their fall musical, Bright Star.

“It is all focused on ensemble and team building and us getting to know each other,” theatre teacher Heather Willingham said. “We’re going to build a strong ensemble before we start collaborating on the script.”

Willingham hopes that it will unite the cast and crew so they will feel like one united company.

“I think it’s gonna help dissolve the crew-cast lines which sometimes can happen because we work separately at first,” she said. “Now, at the very beginning we’re going to be working with each other and not separately. So that’s one of the main goals, and hopefully outcomes.”

She decided to implement this extra rehearsal because of obstacles she has noticed in the past.

“Previously, I have found there is a divide between cast and crew, little as it might be, and I want to make sure from the start that we are one unit,” Willingham said.

Senior Jessica Daly feels that Saturday will allow her to meet new people.

“There are some people who we haven’t met before- some of the upperclassmen haven’t met some of the lowerclassmen- so we’ll get to know a lot of the people who we may not know that well,” she said.

Daly believes it will build a stronger foundation for the show and looks forward to having fun with her cast and crew mates.

“It’ll help us build an ensemble from the very beginning, and I think it’ll be really fun,” she said. “I’m also excited to be with a lot of amazing, talented, and wonderful people.”
