The Redhawk boys’ basketball team continued their winning streak over Thanksgiving break when they beat Naaman Forest 61-58 on Friday, and won four straight games in the RJ Hampton Classic bringing their season record to 7-0.

Winning their last game in the RJ Hampton Classic 59-19 against Gateway Charter Academy, their next goal is winning district games to make it to the playoffs later in the season.

“Since I’ve been here we have had a couple years where we haven’t made the playoffs after a string of district championships, so with the group we have now it’s kind of some young guys, a lot of juniors and one senior that’s helping out a lot,” assistant coach Bruce Wright said. “So with all of those young guys, kind of coming of age our goal is to take that next step and hopefully make the playoffs this year.”

For junior Trenton Walters, playing as one has given the team the ability to create an environment that facilitates a winning mentality.

“Our team’s chemistry is really high and we play really well,” Walters said.
