Orange scones

Orange scones are the ultimate pastry perfection and can easily be made at home. This recipe ensures your scone has tender buttery layers and the vanilla cream filling balances out the citrus from the orange zest. Not too sweet, golden, and crunchy on the outside, the pastry is perfect for your evening tea. It also works well with vanilla ice cream as a dessert after dinner.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups blanched almond flour
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt 
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ cup grapeseed oil
  • 3 tbs agave nectar
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup dried apricots 
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 tbs orange zest

Directions

  • Preheat oven 350 ℉ and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper
  • In a large bowl combine almond flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg
  • In a blender, combine the grapeseed oil, agave nectar, eggs, apricots, orange juice, and orange zest.
  • Combine the dry ingredients and the wet ingredients
  • Scoop the dough on the baking sheet.
  • Bake for 15-20 minute, until they are golden brown
  • Fil them with anila butter cream and serve.
