The names of Frisco Independent School District’s two newest schools have been announced:  Shana Wortham Intermediate School and Richard Wilkinson Middle School.

Both schools will open up in the fall of 2023, with construction set to begin this year. This will be the eighteenth middle school and the first intermediate school for the district.

Wilkinson Middle School, which will have students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade, will be across the street from the new Panther Creek High School. Named after Richard Wilkinson, a man who worked in education for 36 years, 20 of which were in Frisco ISD. 

The second school being constructed this year is named after Shana Wortham who served in education for 28 years, 19 years of it in Frisco ISD where she served as the Executive Director of Communications and Community Relations. Wortham also played a pivotal role in the development of the Frisco Education Foundation. 

Wortham Intermediate will be the first intermediate school in FISD to open to just fifth and sixth graders.
