The girls’ basketball team hits the road to finish the 1st round of District 9-5A play when they travel to take on the Reedy Lions Friday at 6:30 p.m.

“They are coached very well,” assistant coach Dawnielle Kiel said. “They like to move the ball around a lot. They are a little bit different them most teams in our district in the sense that they run a zone and I think it brings challenges but I think we got a game plan so we will prepared to go against that.”

Although the Lions are bringing different looks, at 8-0 in district play, the Redhawks are up for the challenge.

“The plan is offensively is to attack their zone and gaps, we want to try and go inside to our bigs,” Kiel said. “We just want to continue to be seem-less with the ball, be seem-less with our looks and continue move the ball around.”

With Friday being the last game of the first round of district play, the Redhawks look to maintain their perfect district record and remain in first place.

“We’ve failed plenty,” head coach Ross Reedy said. “As long as there is open, honest and transparent communication in the program then you can learn even if you are consistently getting wins.”

Even though the team has yet to lose a district game this season, senior Kamen Wong says the team remains focused.

“Our coach would talk about what it could look like in the future for us,” she said. “However, he emphasizes the importance of staying in the moment. As a result we as a team have tried to take each game one at a time and treat them all the same: with the intention to win.”
