The girls’ and boys’ basketball teams are going over the hedge into Raccoon territory to take on the Frisco Raccoons in District 9-5A play with the girls starting at 6:30 p.m.

With this being their second road game within the last four days both teams look to secure wins before returning back home to The Nest Tuesday.

The girls are on a four game win streak after Tuesday’s nearly 20 point win against the Independence Knights.

Going into Friday nights game, the team is looking to continue to build on things they have been working and perfecting recently.

“I’m looking forward to building off of what we have been working on in practice,” assistant coach Dawnielle Kiel said. “Over the past couple of weeks we have had an opportunity to show that and continue to work on it, continue to improve and get to know us throughout the season.”

Defeating the Raccoons in the last matchup at home, the goal is no different for the team as they hit the road.

“We want to get better each game, which in turn is super motivational for everyone as they try and over achieve,” senior Jazzy Owens-Barnett said. “We are headed into this game with focus and a playmaking mentality.”

The team never has an issue focusing on a game, treating every opponent the same is a key part in this.

“We will treat them like any other good team,” Owens-Barnett said. “We will go in and play our brand of basketball regardless if we’ve beat them before.”

After the girls, the boys will continue the show, tipping off at 8:00 p.m.

The boys’ team is hoping to do the same as the girls’ team as they look to continue their three game win streak against the Raccoons.

The last time the teams met, the Redhawks walked away with a 10 point win 52-42.

“As a team we understand that no game in district is a free win,” senior Drew Johnson said. “We know the value of every win or loss so we have no problems bringing energy to every game like it’s our last.”

Ever since the three game losing streak the team went on in early January, they have been able to bounce back, be sharp, with no intention of losing focus now.

“After the losses we decided to really focus on us,” junior guard Trenton Walters said. “The goal is to win everyday, focus on the little things, and get back to the basics.”
