It’s a battle of Leopards and Redhawks Monday in the opening round of the UIL 5A girls’ basketball playoffs as the girls’ basketball team takes on Lovejoy at Plano West starting at 7 p.m.

The Redhawks finished the regular season ranked No. 11 in Texas, and No. 1 in District 9-5A with a regular season record of 31-5.

Being in the playoffs is not something new for the Redhawks, in the last three years, and four out the past six seasons, the Redhawks have made a run to the state tournament.

“This is my first year here and I just am so happy to be a part of this,” sophomore guard Keyera Roseby said. “We have had a really great season but we can’t lose focus now. We really want to win.”
