After weeks of preparation, some Redhawks will be heading to Fort Worth for the FIRST Robotics competition. “I’m very excited to see how our robot that we’ve spent so much time and effort on does against other teams’ robots,” junior Tanmay Gupta said. “I’m also very excited to meet other people who also share my passion for robotics.”

Making it to state is on the line Thursday-Saturday in the FIRST Robotics Competition at the FIT District Fort Worth Event

The two-day competition is a result of nearly two months of preparation for team members.

“We have been working on this robot for the past 6-8 weeks since winter break,” junior Vinay Pattanashettar said. “There are two parts to this competition – the actual robot building part, and the chairman’s award which is a video presentation about how our teams’ outreach to the community and how we’ve helped the community in terms of stem education.”

Even though he hopes to win regionals, junior Ishayu Gupta is looking forward to the experience and having fun.

“I believe we will do so well in this competition because of our extensive testing and because we have been practicing presenting extensively,” Gupta said. “However, no matter the outcome of the competition, the experience as a whole was just great and I really enjoyed every minute I spent working on this with my friends.”

Seeing what other people’s teams have come up with and meeting others who share the same passion for robots as he does is part of the competition’s appeal for one team member.

“I’m very excited to see how our robot that we’ve spent so much time and effort on does against other teams’ robots,” junior Tanmay Gupta said. “I’m also very excited to meet other people who also share my passion for robotics.”
