Wingspan: What’s your favorite part of track?

Smoak: “Definitely the environment and everybody that’s in track, we all have a good time together.”

Wingspan: What’s been the biggest challenge this season?

Smoak: “Probably Monday workouts. They’re really hard and being mentally tough through them is challenging. It’s an endurance day. So you run a lot, a lot, a lot of running, without much of a break.”

Wingspan: What is something you’re hoping to improve on?

Smoak: “Getting past my mental block, and being able to do everything to my fullest potential.”

Wingspan: What’s been your favorite memory of the season?

Smoak: “Probably going to Texas relays and watching the college athletes and the collegiate athletes run.”

Wingspan: When did you start track, and what inspired you to stick with it?

Smoak: “When I was 7 or 8, I enjoyed it a lot. I liked the environment and the sport itself.”

Wingspan: Who is your biggest inspiration when it comes to track?

Smoak: “Sydney McLaughlin, because she does 400 hurdles and she’s really good.”
