Election Day is Saturday with three places on the Frisco ISD Board of Trustees on the ballot.

“School Board elections are incredibly important, especially for students and families because the school board is one of the mechanisms in which people have their voices heard when it comes to policy changes in a district,” AP Government teacher Amanda Peters said. “They are one of the stakeholders that parents and community members can turn to place their opinion and to help push for policy changes or poly implementations that they think would better their schools and their children.”

With a total of eight candidates running for three spots, social studies department head Jeff Crowe says there could be a wider set of opinions on the board depending on who wins.

“We have a potential to really see a difference in district leadership,” Crowe said. “Currently the board is pretty unanimous in how it votes on many issues, as there doesn’t seem to be much dissent between how they think about certain topics. This election has the potential to change all of that unity, in that you would have some differing opinions and disagreements that would not have a 7-0 vote for every single decision.”

Election Day is Saturday with polling places open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in both Collin and Denton County locations. Visit the Frisco ISD website for more information.
