So far, I’ve reviewed albums for the most part, but there may be some who don’t listen to music that way, and rightfully so. Albums – even with their hits – can have songs that just miss, making it difficult to listen to a whole tracklist of songs that may not resonate with one’s vibe.

Being a relatively slow week for new music albums being released, here’s a list of some new singles from various genres you can listen to:

The electro-funky “New Gold (feat. Tame Impala and Bootie Brown)” is a possible song to put on your end-of-summer playlist. For those who are fans of Tame Impala, known for songs like “Eventually” and “The Less I Know the Better”. While Gorillaz brings the creativity aspect of the song to the table, Impala brings his signature vocals and type of music to this very electronic song, helping give off a psychedelic vibe to an alternative-pop production.

Likewise, falling under the same umbrella of a psychedelic vibe, Kali Uchis gifts listeners with her new single, “ NO HAY LEY,” a Latin song about the feeling of love being one of the most important feelings one can feel. Uchis, known for songs like “After the Storm (feat. Tyler, the Creator & Bootsy Collins” steers away from her usual genre of music to experiment with club-ready music, and accomplishes this new feat successfully.

If those songs don’t match your preferences, Tyga released “Fantastic” – a hip-hop/rap single sounding like the production took inspiration from the ’90s (a time when sampling “desi” or middle-eastern music was trendy and popular). On the complete opposite hand, if you’re wanting to listen to something more alternative yet pop, The 1975, (known for “It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You)”) released “I’m In Love With You,” and it reminiscent of songs from the early 2010s when pop music was very happy and positive.

Of course, there are many more that deserve to have a place on this list, but these may be some that you may have missed trying to find music by people you may recognize.
