Broken part leads to overflowing bins

Cramped, overflowing, and forgotten: recycling bins across the school are full, but a technical malfunction means waiting to get them cleared out.

Wingspan TV’s gets to the bottom of this mess.

They may be unsightly, but nobody can get rid of them just yet.

Full recycling bins have been all over the campus since last week as the recycling compactor had to be taken in for repairs.

“It has a hydraulic system that will compact all the recycling that we pick up from the classrooms and dump in there,” campus recycling supervisor Susan Kim said. “Since it is broken, and since it is because of the hydraulic system, we’ve actually had to take the whole compactor out of here to fix it. We are just waiting on progressive to get it fixed and return it to us.”

Until Progressive Waste Solutions finishes its repairs, those overloaded bins are here to stay.
