Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been out for a couple of years now, but I’ve never played until now due to never owning a Nintendo Switch, but now that I do, I love the game.

The most appealing thing about playing is being able to create and design whatever I want. The game caters to the creative side of me, which isn’t shined on with the usual games that I play with. So it’s a relaxing and easygoing experience where I can just play for hours and find serotonin in anything that I do in-game.

I get to do things that I usually won’t do in real life like design the interior of my home, grow flowers and plants, fish something out of the ocean like a blue marlin, or even dig up the skull of a T. Rex. The spectrum of activities that can be done is so wide, it lets me explore, even if it’s in the most straightforward way. Simple mechanics that allow me to do different things makes it seem like I’m living an easier life, a life where the biggest problem is having to rebuild my tools when they break.

Everything I do in-game is centered around fueling my serotonin levels, especially when I get to interact and listen about the daily adventures that my island residents go through, like when Dom the sheep talks about his crazy workout and trying to get a 60-pack for his abs. Animal Crossing embraces the uniqueness of everyone and brings it all together into a happy and creative game where the possibilities are endless.

The only thing that I dislike about the game is the language that the characters speak that gets on my nerves, it’s extremely high pitched and it sounds like gibberish, but it only gets to me after a decently long time of playing. However the game makes up for this downside with it’s very calming and upbeat soundtrack so it all mellows out.

I have found quite the gem in Animal Crossing and I wish I found it earlier, but I’m still glad to have found it at all. A game that’s simple and caters to all, I feel that Animal Crossing can and should be enjoyed by everyone.
