HOSA travels to Galveston for State
April 13, 2016
HOSA competitors boarded charter buses early Wednesday to travel to Galveston for the Texas state competition following their success in the area round in late February. Nine competitors will represent the school competing in Public Service Announcement, Medical Reading, Extemperarious Health Poster, and Empidemiology.
“I am extremely excited to go to HOSA state competition this year because I will get to interact with other HOSA students,” junior officer Amy Abraham said. “We get to meet a lot of new people from around the state which is so fun. I hope to learn more about the health field and I hope that our Liberty students do well so we can represent at nationals.”
Competitors that place at state will advance to national competition in Nashville, Tennessee later in the year. Last year, seniors Sunjoli Aggarwal and Sarah Samuel advanced to nationals but will not compete this year alongside new competitors including senior Erin Abraham who finished first in Public Service Announcement at area.
“I wasn’t really confident as a competitor to start out with,” Erin said. “But once we did so well at area, I am really excited to see how well we can do at area. Not to mention how fun the trip will be. It’s going to be a great time.”
