The votes have been counted and juniors Haley Ward and Lily Leyden are the Student Council President and Vice President for the 2023-2024 school year.

“My plan going forward to prepare for next year is to really get on top of planning early with Lily,” Ward said. “We will be ready for the beginning of next school year. We have a lot of goals for the school and events we want to create for next year, so we are just going to start planning right away.”

Ward and Leyden will use the last month of school learning from the current President and Vice President, seniors Anna Lyon and Harley Classe.

“Harley was an amazing Vice President,” Leyden said. “She used her leadership role to show positivity and kindness, and I hope to do the same. I view the role of Vice-President as someone who is supposed to help and support the President, but also be there for other STUCO members. I plan to use my role to help out wherever is needed and support Haley as President.”

Ward and Leyden are hoping not only to emulate the success of Lyon and Classe, but to build on what they’ve done and created.

“Anna and Harley did an amazing job at leading the school and our student council class,” Ward said. “They really set a great example for Lily and I. We will continue to use a lot of their ways next year. They were so good at planning and organizing events, so we want to continue what they started and expand on that.”

With just a few weeks left as StuCo President, Lyon is ready to share whatever information she can with Ward.

“I will be passing a lot down to Haley of what I did this year, so she can either choose to continue, revise, or even change what we did this year in class,” Lyon said. “I’m going to send her things like advisory event plans, homecoming plans, dates when we started planning different things to give her a good timeline.”
