Ready to kick off the 2023-24 school year, students, staff, and families are invited to attend the annual Redhawk Rally, hosted by the PTSA, on Saturday.
The event welcomes guests outside the school at 5 p.m. for shopping, games, and concessions, and from 7-8 p.m. guests can enjoy a pep rally inside the gym.
“Booster clubs, student organizations, cheer, drill team, band and student athletes all unite for the purpose of celebrating the start of a new year,” Vice President of PTSA programs Laura Murphy said. “This year, we have added a pop-up vendor fair and have invited over 20 outside businesses to take part in this community event. We offer concessions, and will have a snow cone truck, an ice cream truck, a dunk tank and fire engine this year. Many other games will be played inside, with corn hole and face painting a fan-favorite with the kids.”
The event has become an annual tradition on campus, growing bigger by the year.
“It once took place with a football scrimmage outside and boosters and other student groups would set up tables to promote their organizations,” Murphy said. “With bad weather one year, the event was moved inside. It quickly grew bigger as more and more groups began participating to showcase and fundraise for their programs. The event now takes place in the Liberty gyms, with one gym hosting all our Liberty booster groups and student organizations and the main gym reserved for our back to school pep rally.”
Many student organizations have been preparing for the rally and are looking forward to the opening of football season.
“We just finished July training, an intense week of dancing,” drill team captain senior Reva Kabnurkar said. “During the week we polished our streamer jazz dance and we have been continuously working on it through this past week. I think Redhawk rally is a great way to not only kick off football season but also show our school spirit and encourage people to come to the games.”
