Future Farmers of America turned to a sweet treat on Wednesday in their effort to recruit new members to the organization.
officers hosted an ice cream social on Wednesday to welcome agriculture students into the organization.
“At the ice cream social students were able to get ice cream and it was hosted by our student officers,” FFA sponsor Brittney Avant said. “So they just brought the students ice cream and talked about the different opportunities that they can have in FFA.”
According to junior and FFA secretary Mikaela Turnage, this event helps students socialize and provides them the ability to build teams.
“It helps people get involved and it helps us to recruit new members, which will help us to create teams for our CDEs, LDEs, and speaking events,” Turnage said. “It was super fun to meet new people and get everyone to have fun.”
Avant believes this event is an important thing to start off the year with.
“This event is an important thing to host,” Avant said. “It allows people to come to a low energy chill time to ask questions and get to know each other and figure out what might be a good opportunity for each person.”
