In their final non-district game before the beginning of District 10-5A play on Friday, the Redhawks defeated Lone Star 3-1 Tuesday at the Nest.
“It was a good win. Lone Star is a good team,” head coach Eighmy Dobbins said. “We were a little bit nervous about their size, they’re really tall. We did a good job first few sets we played really well.”
The Redhawks were ahead 2-0, when Lone Star turned up the heat, winning the third set forcing the game to continue to a fourth. Dobbins believes this was an excellent lesson for the team.
“[To] not take winning for granted, because we were up and lost the third set,” Dobbins said. “In the third set, we just looked a little bit overconfident, and that hurt us. So just making sure we take wins one set at a time.”
Tuesday’s win gives the team confidence as they move into Friday, according to senior Gabbi Fasciano.
“This gives us lots of confidence because Lone Star is a great team,” Fasciano said. “Their a team we compare the teams in our district to, so it was a great lead into district play.”
