Leading the state in National Merit Semifinalists, Frisco ISD has 111 students who qualified for the honor. On campus, 15 seniors have qualified as National Merit Semifinalists.
“This exceptional achievement speaks to the excellence of our hardworking, dedicated students and the educators who helped set them on this path to academic success,” Frisco ISD chief academic officer Christy Fiori said in a district news release.
To qualify, students needed a selection index score of 219 or higher on their junior year PSAT.
“I think it shows that all the SAT practice that I put in, practice that, it carried over and I get a reward for it,” senior Avi Aggarwal said.
Doing well on the PSAT can pay off when it comes to college as the National Merit Scholarship Corporation provides more than 7,000 awards valued at more than $35 million.
“I feel like I worked hard to study for the SAT and PSAT,” senior Sophie Yang said. “I’m really happy that my score reflected that.”
