Wingspan: When and why did you start playing golf?
Zhang: “I’ve played golf since I was about seven years old because my dad used to play golf, and he has always pushed me and my sister to work hard at it.”
Wingspan: What is your favorite part about golf?
Zhang: “My favorite part is winning, but also playing with my friends and my older sister.”
Wingspan: What is your greatest challenge in golf?
Zhang: “My greatest challenge is the pressure. Usually, in tournaments, there are people watching, whether it’s the public or college coaches; it can be very intimidating sometimes.”
Wingspan: Who is your biggest supporter?
Zhang: “My biggest supporter is my parents because they’ve always helped me every step of the way.”
Wingspan: How has golf impacted your life?
Zhang: “My life has been impacted by giving me a goal to reach and work at.”
Wingspan: How have you been preparing for the season?
Zhang: “I’ve been preparing for the season by practicing and playing courses with my sister on the weekends. We usually play at Ridgeview.”
Wingspan: What is your goal for this season?
Zhang: “My goal for this season is to go to state, and I think we have a good chase at it. We came so close last year, so I definitely think we’re going to make it. “
Wingspan: Do you hope to play golf after high school?
Zhang: “I plan to play in college at hopefully DBU or Texas Wesleyan.”
