The girls’ cross country team won its second straight District 10-5A championship on Thursday at Warren Park with the boys team placing 6th.
The girls’ varsity team snagged the 1st place finish and advances to the Regional 2-5A meet on Nov. 3. Senior Kayla Winter finished 18th out of 41 girls and is looking to improve at the regional meet.
“I feel like I could have done better at districts but I’m proud of the team overall and how we did,” Winter said. “We’re preparing by doing some more intense workouts and making sure we take care of recovery.”
With a 6th place finish, the boys’ varsity team’s season comes to an end.
“Boys are finished for their season and they’re gonna start switching gears,” coach Robert Thayer said. “They’ll recover a little and get ready for track.”
Senior Cade Krug believed they gave a good effort in their final meet.
“The boys at the last meet had a bit of a struggle getting to where we needed to be but we all did our best and pushed through it,” Krug said.
