The Redhawk swim and dive team took on Panther Creek Tuesday at the Bruce Eubanks Natatorium, with the boys losing to the Panthers 74-70, and the girls falling 104-83. However, 23 Redhawks managed podium finishes, including six first place finishes.
“This was our annual spirit meet and the kids definitely brought it,” head coach Zachariah Gnoza said. “They were cheering the whole time and they seemed to really have fun. All of them were very close with Panther Creek. We had a few personal records and a few kids did new events for the first time and they did amazing.”
Junior You-Ning Chou believes the Redhawks’ mindset might have affected their performance.
“We have endurance and motivation to get into the pool, but when racing, we still get really scared and that affects our performance,” Chou said.
