Redhawk softball kicks off their season playing the Reedy Lions at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night at Reedy High School.
“Reedy is an opponent that outnumbers us, we’re a smaller team this year than we’ve been in previous years,” assistant coach Tiffany Thayer said. “Playing a bigger team as our first game could be a struggle, but I know the girls are strong and are capable of winning.”
A main goal for the Redhawks today would be their offense, a skillset they’ve been working on during pre-season scrimmages.
Thayer said, “I want the team to focus on hitting, especially situational hitting, so we can strengthen offensive plays and base running.”
Thayer hopes the team is able to play a strong game against Reedy and be able to start off the season strong.
“We’re playing a team that had a solid season last year, they have a few committed players, so we’ll need to play at the top of our level to compete,” Thayer said.
