Trying to bring home their first win of the season, Redhawks softball takes on Lake Dallas High School at 5:30 pm on Thursday at The Nest for their first home game of the season.
Since the team is smaller in numbers this year than in previous years, the team has only had one pitcher and one alternate, which could be an obstacle when playing multiple games a week.
“Having Addison Hanson, our pitcher, pitch a whole second game in one week for a full seven [innings] is a huge goal for this game,” assistant coach Tiffany Thayer said. “Coming back from a shaky start to the season is also a big goal for us.”
After taking a loss on Tuesday to Reedy High School, the Redhawks have a more positive approach to Thursday’s game.
“We need to clean up our defense and minimize errors, and be able to trust ourselves and each other but I’m excited, I think we’re going to play really well and all of our practices will pay off in this game,” junior Ainslee Palmer said. “I think our strength in this game will definitely be offense and being able to get runs on the board early.”
