The Redhawks softball team heads to Commerce High School for the Big Cat Tournament Thursday through Saturday feeling confident and ready.
“‘I’m feeling pretty good,” junior Ainslee Palmer said. “I think it’s a good chance to play some teams that we haven’t played before and get some more work on the field.”
Palmer thinks the team will play well if they play confident.
”As a team, I think we should just play clean and play our game,” Palmer said. “We should also work on being more confident on the field because sometimes we lack confidence and it can affect our game and this weekend is a good opportunity to practice that,”
For head coach Baylea Higgs, the team will play more confidently because of the lack of knowledge of the other teams.
“I think the team will be able to go into games more confident because they don’t really know much about the opponents and hopefully we’ll go into it ready for anything,” Higgs said.
Higgs hopes that the weekend offers an opportunity to get more strong game play if the team stays well rested and prepared.
”Our goals are just to get some more reps in, be more confident in our abilities and be able to walk away feeling ready for district,” she said. “We might struggle a bit with playing so many games in just three days, but I hope we stay hydrated and get good rest so that we’re ready to play.”
