An 11-0 loss to the Walnut Grove Wildcats on Friday night doesn’t have the Redhawks softball team down.
“We lost, but it was a good game and we still played strong,” head coach Baylea Higgs said. “I think that heading toward the end of the season this shows that we still have plenty of room to grow.”
Higgs wants the girls to relax and let go of the loss heading into their final game this week against Lebanon Trail.
“The girls played well and I want them to shake off the mistakes from the game so we can close out the season strong instead of timid,” she said. “Also since our pitcher was out it was good to see some of the players step up into positions they wouldn’t regularly be in.”
Junior Francesca Duran agrees, believing that although the game was not successful it was still a learning experience.
“The game didn’t go as planned, that’s for sure,” Duran said. “But we gave it our all despite having our pitcher out for the game which shows strength in our team.”
Heading into their last game of the season, the team is hopeful and staying positive.
“We really just want to have a good, fun, last game. Hopefully we’ll be able to win and close out the season on a good note,” Duran said.
