The first round of the playoffs begins for the Redhawks baseball team Wednesday when they take on Lone Star High School at Independence in a three game series against the Rangers.
“We feel really good about it,” assistant coach Easton Moore said. “We keep looking at things about Lone Star and everything that we see, I mean, it’s something that we can handle. And that everybody’s saying that they overachieve, so we’re gonna take that as our fuel to go get them.”
Lone Star walks into the game having finished second in District 9-5A with a record of 10-4. Even though the Rangers have a better record than the Redhawks (7-7), junior Jack Moran is unfazed.
“As a team and myself we’re not nervous to play them,” Moran said. “We always go out there and fight and do our thing and have fun no matter the opponent.”
Originally Wednesday’s game was supposed to be held on Thursday, however, due to expected rain in the forecast the game was pushed forward.
“We just wanted to make sure we get the game in,” Moore said. “Incoming rain overnight Wednesday and all day Thursday. Pushing the game won’t affect our preparation.”
