Serving up a start to the 2024 team tennis season, the Redhawks take to the court Wednesday afternoon at Frisco High School to take on the Raccoons on what is expected to be a steamy match with temperatures above 100°.
The Redhawks may not be able to avoid Wednesday’s heat, but they have adjusted their practice schedule in recent days.
“We have had early morning practices to dodge the heat of the afternoon,” head coach Will Davis said.
On the court, it won’t be a surprise if the action heats up quickly according to Davis.
“The Frisco match should be very close as they are ranked #10 in the state and we are ranked 12,” Davis said. “Our district is extremely difficult with five teams being in the top 12 in the state.”
For senior Hailey Zhang, much of the match’s focus will be on maintaining strong mentality.
“Having a strong mental game when [I’m] competing in super hot weather is the most difficult part [of tennis] for me, ” Zhang said.
