Wingspan: When and why did you start playing tennis?
Zhang: “I first started playing tennis around the end of fifth grade summer and I got started mainly because I would just tag along with my brother and then started gaining a passion towards it.”
Wingspan: What is your favorite part about tennis?
Zhang: “My favorite part about tennis would be competing and just being able to meet new people at tournaments.”
Wingspan: What is the most difficult part about tennis?
Zhang: “The most difficult part about tennis for me is being able to come back from being down in a set or match and also having a strong mental game especially when you’re competing in super hot weather.”
Wingspan: Who is your biggest inspiration?
Zhang: “My biggest inspiration is Roger Federer because he’s always been a really hard worker since a young age and is also one of the most respected and ethical players in history.”
Wingspan: Do you like playing singles or doubles better and why?
Zhang: “I like playing doubles more because it’s always nice to have that reassurance on court with you and it’s just more fun with your friend.”
Wingspan: What do you hope to accomplish this year?
Zhang: “I hope to make it to state this year in the spring season and playoffs as a team in the fall season.”
Wingspan: Will you be continuing tennis after college?
Zhang: “I plan on playing in college and after I graduate I would still love to continue playing tennis for as long as I can.”
