The most common type of entry in my Notes app are lists. To-do lists, shopping lists, movies or books I would like to watch or read, words I like, and other random categories. I make so many lists in fear that I would forget whatever it is if I didn’t. The most recent list I have made is places to study.
As this is my junior year, I’ve been manifesting an academic comeback for myself. This means I’ve made lots of goals and plans to study to increase my GPA and become a better candidate for colleges. This has been proven to be very much easier said than done, but I’m trying to increase my productivity by finding comfortable and quiet places to study.
First on my list, and a pretty obvious one, is the Frisco library. When it’s not too busy, there are lots of seating options. I like going into the quiet room when I have actual work to get done. Also, they let you bring in food and drinks and have vending machines.
Whenever I visit a coffee shop or cafe that has free Wi-Fi, comfortable seating, and a chill atmosphere, I’ll add it to this list. Some of my favorites places that are open late on weeknights are Boba Latte, Karmic Grounds, and most Starbucks. Ascension is one of my favorites but is better for weekend study sessions as it closes at six on weekdays. Also, the Barnes & Nobles cafes are not a bad idea.
One place on my list that I tend to overlook are nice hotel lobbies like the Omni at the Star. Anyone can pretty much walk into a hotel lobby and set up shop. As long as you don’t bring too much attention to yourself, you’re set for a couple hours of work.
Parks are also on my list. Once the weather cools down I like to take my work to a park like Russel Creek or Prairie Meadow and set up a little spot on a blanket. Obviously this won’t necessarily work for you if you have work to do on a laptop and don’t have wifi, but it can be a nice change of scenery if you have lots of notes or reading to do on paper.
This list of study spots is one of the more practical entries from my notes. Hopefully throughout this school year it will be one I refer back to.
