District to ask voters to approve tax increase
May 31, 2016
Frisco ISD is proposing a tax increase for the 2016-2017 school year at the board meeting Tuesday night. If the school board approves the thirteen percent tax increase, then the tax will be put in the hands of the community in the form of a tax ratification election (TRE) in August. While the tax would put an additional financial burden on Frisco residents, neighboring cities like Plano, McKinney, and Little Elm have passed similar measures. The money would fund programs like increasing teacher pay for Frisco ISD as the district is in the bottom 25 percent of area school districts for starting teacher salaries and average salaries.
