After defeating Heritage 3-0 Tuesday, the Redhawks volleyball team (3-1) hosts the Independence Knights (1-3) Friday, seeking another win to climb further up the district standings.
“[We’re] feeling good [about the match],” head coach Eighmy Dobbins said. ‘We are in a really good spot right now and have nice momentum going into the game. Independence is pretty strong offensively, so defending all of their hitters will be a challenge for us. We will continue to prepare in practice [by] focus[ing] on our blocking and defensive seams.”
Even though the records of the two teams mirror each other, senior Sophia Hung says the Redhawks are fully aware that they can’t underestimate Independence.
“They’re not just going to come out onto the court and roll over,” Hung said. “We’re expecting them to give us some competition, so we’re going to have to try and play as clean as we can.”
