Wingspan: When and why did you start playing volleyball?
Ferguson: “ I started playing rec volleyball when I was 11 years old. But I started playing club volleyball when I was 13 years old.”
Wingspan: What is your favorite part about volleyball?
Ferguson: “My favorite part about volleyball is watching my teammates get big points and just
celebrating for them for their achievements.”
Wingspan: Who is your biggest inspiration?
Ferguson: “My biggest inspiration is definitely Emma Halter. She’s the libero for Texas volleyball and she’s such an amazing player and teammate and I just look up to her.”
Wingspan: Who is your biggest supporter?
Ferguson: “My biggest supporter is definitely my mom. She’s always there to lift me up when I’m feeling down and struggling. She’s just the first person I always want to talk to first about my feelings.”
Wingspan: What is your goal for this season?
Ferguson: “My goal for this season is to win districts and get far in the playoffs. We’ve won districts the past two years and I want to keep that streak going.”
Wingspan: How do you stay motivated after a rough game?
Ferguson: “How I stay motivated after a bad game is watching film and looking at the mistakes I made and correcting them in my next practices. This helps me stay focused on the skills that I need to improve on and have a disciplined mindset.”
Wingspan: Do you plan on continuing your volleyball career after high school? Why or why not?
Ferguson: “This has been a question I’ve been thinking about for a while now and I don’t think I’ll continue playing volleyball after high school. Even though I have so much love for the sport, I just really want to focus on my academics. But overall I just don’t see myself playing in college or in the future.”
